Court Cavendish sold to AMP Capital
One of the UK’s leading high-quality providers of social care to people with learning disabilities – Care Management Group (CMG) – has today been sold to AMP Capital by Court Cavendish. Rothschild & Co and Pinsent Mason were advisers to Court Cavendish in this process.
Court Cavendish – the specialist Health and Social Care turnaround company owned by Dr Chai Patel CBE FRCP was brought in to assist CMG back in 2008 at a time when CMG was on the verge of bankruptcy and struggling with business-critical issues including high debt levels and poor quality care ratings.
Since Court Cavendish became involved with CMG, the quality of service provision has been overhauled and significant financial investment has been made in the quality of care provided, into staff, the quality of accommodation, and in compiling the right senior leadership team for CMG in order to achieve the necessary transformation.
Latterly, in the period from 2014 onwards, a strong culture of service user empowerment has been established at CMG with an intense focus on staff development and new innovations in community engagement. The organisation has thrived under a strong home grown leadership team – a factor too often overlooked when trying to turn around failing health and social care companies.
Dr Chai Patel CBE FRCP, Founder and owner of Court Cavendish said today: “I am really proud of what we have achieved at CMG. This is the result of the immense commitment and hard work of colleagues across the organisation – over many years. The strong leadership provided by the Board and the Senior Management of the company has been critical to the success of this first full Court Cavendish turnaround. I am so delighted that AMP Capital has acquired CMG because AMP Capital share our values and priorities. I am hugely confident that CMG will continue to thrive under their ownership.”
